Cameron Smith

Cameron is a dynamic creator of sound and drummer whose artistic journey reflects a deep commitment to pushing musical boundaries and honoring ancestral roots. Growing up in a family with a rich legacy of music in the South Side of Chicago, her path took shape through a key, transformative conversation with a percussionist ancestor, igniting her passion for drumming and inspiring her journey of self-discovery through rhythm. Through her works she has become known as the "Sound Smith" based off of her last name. With a degree in Film and Media Arts, Cameron’s unique perspective blends her experience in the film and media industry with her love for sound, shaping her performances with an eye for cinematic impact. As a Black Trans artist Cameron brings a unique voice to music, challenging norms in jazz, funk, and other genres with innovative techniques that incorporate both traditional Hip-hop, African rhythms and modern electronic soundscapes.
