A Parent's Project is the Austin-based project of songwriter Landon Thompson, former founding member of 5-time Austin Music Award winners The Black and White Years (whose debut was produced by Talking Heads’ Jerry Harrison). Returning after stepping away from music to raise a family, Thompson pairs monthly releases and Substack essays with an eclectic, tape-warm aesthetic. Featuring infectious guitar hooks, organic percussion, and reflective lyrics, each song captures a hand-crafted feel that balances nostalgia with fresh energy. Fans of Royel Otis, Vampire Weekend, Paul Simon, and The Kinks will easily connect with its warm approach.
